Raúl Pérez needs no introduction among wine lovers. His artisanal approach and passion for the land can be felt in every bottle he produces. Raúl Pérez La Vizcaína La del Vivo is a white wine with soul, born in the vineyards of Valtuille de Abajo, in the heart of Bierzo.
This wine is a tribute to the authenticity of its land. Made from 95% Godello and 5% Doña Blanca, it reflects the personality of these indigenous varieties with impressive clarity. The vines, some of them more than 50 years old, grow in clay and sandy soils, which gives them a marked minerality and a surprising freshness.
Winemaking
The winemaking process at Raúl Pérez La Vizcaína La del Vivo follows a very hands-off approach, as Raúl Pérez likes to do. Fermentation takes place without temperature control in large oak vats, letting nature do its job. A small percentage of the wine spends a year in earthenware jars, an ancestral technique that adds texture and complexity. It is then aged in barrels of different capacities until bottling, without fining.
Taste
Raúl Pérez La Vizcaína La del Vivo is not just any white wine. From the first sip, you notice its vibrant acidity, its mineral texture and that balance between freshness and depth. On the nose, it reveals aromas of ripe white fruit, hints of yellow plum and a background of fresh herbs reminiscent of the countryside after the rain.
On the palate, it is like a wave of well-integrated flavours: ample, with an elegant structure but without losing that spark of liveliness. The finish is long, with a slight saline aftertaste, leaving the sensation of wanting another sip.
Raúl Pérez La Vizcaína La del Vivo is a wine that begs to be enjoyed at a leisurely pace, accompanied by a good seafood dish , a mellow rice dish or even a Galician-style octopus. But, frankly, it also shines on its own, on a quiet evening, with good conversation in between.
