Description
In the heart of Tokaj, where history and nature conspire to create legendary wines, this Oremus Tokaji Aszú 5 Puttonyos is born. It is not just a wine, it is a testimony to centuries of tradition, hand-harvesting and a passion that has been passed down from generation to generation.
Its soul is formed by the Furmint grape, accompanied by Hárslevelű, Zéta and Sárgamuskotály. Each brings something unique: freshness, structure, floral notes and that elegant sweetness that makes it unmistakable. The vineyards are spread over volcanic soils, a terrain that challenges the vines, but gives them exceptional minerality. And then there is the magic: Botrytis cinerea, the fungus that turns grapes into little golden treasures.
Winemaking
The winemaking of Oremus Tokaji Aszú 5 Puttonyos is anything but conventional. Imagine: in late autumn, the grape pickers go through the vineyards one by one, hand-picking only the grapes that have reached the exact point of concentration. These are slowly macerated in base must, in a patient process that can take up to 24 hours. The wine is then fermented in Hungarian oak barrels and rests for 30 months, during which time it develops its complexity and depth. In addition, its residual sugar concentration reaches 160 grams per litre, which gives it its characteristic sweetness balanced with vibrant acidity.
Taste
If you have ever tasted a wine that leaves you speechless, this is one of them. On the nose, Oremus Tokaji Aszú 5 Puttonyos is a festival of ripe apricots, honey and orange peel. It's like opening a jar of homemade jam made from fruit picked at dawn. But the best comes on the palate: vibrant acidity balances the sweetness to perfection, giving way to flavours of mango, grapefruit and caramelised almonds. An exquisite balance between freshness and voluptuousness.
The finish is long, elegant and memorable, like a melody that stays with you long after you've heard it.
Oremus Tokaji Aszú 5 Puttonyos is not a wine to drink in a hurry. It is to savour it, to share it, to let time pass unhurriedly. And if you have a good blue cheese or foie gras at hand, even better. Because some pleasures, like this Tokaji, are made to be enjoyed without a clock.
