Description
Ridge Monte Bello Chardonnay was born in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Made exclusively from Chardonnay, this wine is sourced from grapes grown organically in the Monte Bello vineyard.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand, ensuring the selection of the best clusters. Once harvested, the grapes are pressed into whole bunches. Fermentation is carried out in barrels, using indigenous yeasts, followed by malolactic fermentation with natural bacteria. As for the barrels used, the wine is aged in 90% of air-dried American oak barrels and 10% of French oak barrels. These barrels vary in age, with 10% being new, 30% three years old, 30% four years old and 30% five years old. The wine is aged for seventeen months in these barrels. Following a philosophy of minimum intervention, the wine is bottled unfiltered.
Taste
Ridge Monte Bello Chardonnay has a bright golden hue. On the nose, it displays aromas of pear, apple blossom, lemon and wet gravel. On the palate, it is a full-bodied wine with a balanced entry that is enhanced by lively acidity, culminating in a long, juicy finish.
