Description
Altura Ansonaco is a wine that comes from the island of Giglio in the region of Tuscany. This wine is characterised by being rich, full of substance, aroma and flavour. Its traditional colour is golden, similar to the colour of the grapes when ripe. Unlike other white wines, Altura Ansonaco behaves like a red wine. We recommend opening it in good time and drinking it at cellar temperature, not chilled in the fridge. It is a wine that adapts well to ageing, even in the long term, and is perfect to accompany all kinds of dishes, whether meat or fish.
Winemaking
The grapes used for this wine are 100% Ansonica. The vineyards are all located by the sea, on small terraces with steep slopes. There are no roads or paths, which means that all operations, including harvesting, are completely manual. Harvesting is done manually in boxes around the second half of September. Fermentation is spontaneous with the skins at cellar temperature in steel tanks. After fermentation, several rackings are carried out, approximately three per year, until bottling, which generally takes place just before the next harvest. The wine is not filtered or treated in any way, whether chemically, thermally or mechanically.
Taste
Altura Ansonaco is a very particular and delicious orange wine. It has a complex nose with notes of orange peel, apricot and floral hints that are revealed when the glass is swirled. On the palate, it has a honeyed and unctuous texture, with an extremely dry aftertaste where its salinity and moderate acidity stand out.
