Description
Marimar Estate Albariño is a wine that has found a home at the Don Miguel Vineyard, after an initial attempt at the Sonoma Coast vineyard proved too cold for ripening. The Albariño variety, known for producing exceptional wines in the cool, rainy climate of Galicia in northwest Spain, has been successfully transplanted to the slightly warmer Russian River Valley Estate.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested in mid-September, gently pressed into whole bunches and fermented in stainless steel. After primary fermentation, the wine rested on its lees until bottling in May.
Taste
Marimar Estate Albariño has classic floral notes, with captivating aromas of honeysuckle and gardenia. These fragrances are complemented by tropical notes of lychee, mango and guava, as well as orchard fruits such as apple and pear. On the palate, it is crisp, with a citrus and mineral touch, offering an excellent balance between fruit and acidity. It also has a touch of Californian sunshine that sets it apart. It is ideal with raw or grilled seafood, smoked salmon, sushi, Asian cuisine and, of course, tapas.
