Description
Movia Veliko Belo is a white wine that comes from the Goriška Brda region, specifically from the Slovenian side of the Collio region. This wine is a representation of the dedication and passion with which the wines are made in Movia.
Winemaking
Movia Veliko Belo is a blend of three grape varieties: 70% Ribolla, 20% Pinot Gris and 10% Sauvignon. These grapes are harvested by hand during September and early October, ensuring that each cluster is at its optimum ripeness. Vinification occurs as follows: the Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon are macerated for one day, while the Ribolla is macerated for five days. At the end of fermentation, each variety is racked separately into barrels. After the ageing process, the wines are blended to create Veliko Belo. This wine has been aged for 18 months in 225-litre oak barrels.
Taste
Veliko Belo is a smooth wine, with well-integrated alcohols. Its youthful freshness indicates that the wine will continue to develop. It has a mineral and slightly astringent finish. It is an intense, full-bodied wine with a long-lasting persistence. At first, sweet spice flavours are confirmed, with a slight perception of liquorice, followed by ripe and candied fruits. Intense aromas reveal a rich palette: ripe yellow apple, persimmon, yellow plum and pineapple. Perceptions of candied lemon, honey and dried yellow flowers follow these primary aromas. There are also light notes of fine lees that play with almonds, butter, vanilla and a soft touch of caramel. The finish is herbal, with hints of rosemary and marjoram.
