Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2021 La Tour de Curon Chardonnay comes from a superb terroir with a high content of limestone, and the wine is also faintly reductive but in a different way from the other Chardonnay, more mineral, salty and original. In this catastrophic vintage for yields but very good for quality, he only got two 228-liter barrels from the 0.72 hectares of the vineyard. The wine is more concentrated and with higher alcohol, possibly from the short pruning and no trimming, but the wine is also consistently lower in pH and higher in acidity, higher pitched. This is, year in, year out, his best Chardonnay.

Features

Description

Tissot Arbois Le Clos de La Tour de Curon is an exceptional white wine from the Jura region of France. Produced by the renowned Domaine Stéphane Tissot, this wine stands out for its quality and distinctive character. Made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes, Clos de La Tour de Curon benefits from a unique terroir and meticulous vinification. The vines are grown in plots with a rich composition of calcareous soils, which bring a remarkable minerality to the wine.

Winemaking

Tissot Arbois Le Clos de La Tour de Curon is fermented in French oak barrels, followed by ageing on the lees for 12 to 24 months. This ageing process not only enhances the wine's aromas and flavours, but also gives it exceptional structure and complexity.

Taste

Tissot Arbois Le Clos de La Tour de Curon offers an unparalleled sensory experience. On the nose, it displays intense aromas of spices, dried fruits and white plum. On the palate, there is a pronounced mineral structure accompanied by lively acidity and toasty notes. The overripe apricot flavours and elegance of this wine rival the best whites of Burgundy. The concentration, freshness and complexity of this Chardonnay are highlighted by its persistence on the palate, offering a long, refined finish. Undoubtedly, the Tissot Arbois Le Clos de La Tour de Curon is a wine that will continue to evolve and improve over time, promising to be even more harmonious in the next decade.
