Buy Wine from Nuria Renom
Much more than a sommelier turned winemaker, Nuria Renom is a whirlwind of energy, intuition and sensitivity who has managed to carve out her own unique winemaking identity in the heart of the Penedès. Her name already resonates strongly among lovers of natural wine, but her story, woven of sacrifice, creative freedom and a visceral connection with the land, deserves to be told with the same intensity as that of her wines.
From Bar Brutal to Garraf: the leap of faith
Born in Argentina but trained and rooted in Catalonia, Nuria Renom discovered wine in Pisa and never looked back. Back in Barcelona, she channelled her passion through sommelier, becoming a key figure at Bar Brutal, the epicentre of the city's natural revolution. But sommelier was just the prelude. In 2014, her impulse to touch the vineyard with her own hands took her to the Garraf massif, where she began to care for a few hectares like someone raising a child: with total dedication and without shortcuts.
Vineyard by day, bar by night: that's how it all began
In her first steps as a winemaker, Nuria had the generous support of Toni Carbó and Anna Serra, from La Salada, who offered her their winery to vinify her first harvests. This gesture of solidarity was key for her project to take root with freedom and authenticity.
It was a time of endless early mornings and exhausting journeys: after closing the bar at dawn, he would take the first train to work among the vines. This almost superhuman effort was not a whim, but a declaration of principles: only from direct contact with the land can one understand its language. This philosophy, radically honest, is the one that still permeates each of his bottles.
Welcome to Les Cantarelles
In 2021, Les Cantarelles became their new home. This estate in Sant Martí Sarroca, with open views of the Alt Penedès, represents a qualitative and emotional leap forward. There he cultivates eight hectares of biodynamic vineyards, without certifications but with an unwavering conviction. Combining her own grapes with others from friendly plots in the Garraf, Nuria has developed her own language, almost musical, where each wine expresses a chord of the landscape.
Her winemaking is far from orthodoxy. There are no dogmas, but there is an absolute fidelity to the fruit and its context. He works with minimal intervention, without make-up or artifice, letting the wine say what it has to say. Vibrant whites, lively ancestral sparkling wines, reds with the soul of old Garnacha or Sumoll: all of them reflect the same tension between strength and subtlety, between intuition and precision.
More than wine: a way of being in the world
But beyond wine, what Nuria Renom embodies is an attitude: that of someone who does not conform, of someone who dares to reinvent herself without losing her roots. In a world where wine sometimes becomes empty discourse or a passing fad, her bottles are a reminder that authenticity still matters.
For Nuria, wine is not a product: it is a language, a territory, a vital pulse. And those who are lucky enough to taste it know it. Because to drink a Nuria Renom wine is to come into contact with a different way of understanding the world. A way that smells of dry earth, of the Mediterranean sun, of dawn among the vines. And, above all, the truth.
