En la Denominación de Origen Valdeorras (Galicia), encontramos una bodega cargada de historia que apuesta por unir tradición y modernidad. Viña Somoza representa el proyecto de recuperación de los viñedos autóctonos y de la bodega fundada en el primer tercio del siglo XX en A Rúa de Valdeorras.
Viñedos de Viña Somoza
Las 15 hectáreas de viñedo de entre 30 y 60 años se extienden sobre ricos suelos de ladera. Se encuentran principalmente en los municipios de Chandoiro, cercado por los ríos Xares y Bibei, Larouco y Treval, en Rubiá. En este último se encuentran las cepas más viejas, sobre suelos ricos en granito y pizarra.
En Viña Somoza se trabaja los viñedos con respeto, cuidando la uva desde la viña hasta el proceso de elaboración. Se controla todo el año, analizando exhaustivamente el ciclo de maduración de la uva, para su recogida en el momento óptimo. Se realiza con énfasis una primera selección de la uva en el viñedo, con especial cuidado de su transporte a bodega, clasificación en mesa y prensado inmediato, siendo la viticultura tradicional y manual la protagonista en todo este proceso.
La vendimia se realiza de forma manual, en cajas de no más de 15 kg, y se practica una viticultura sostenible, trabajando con los más importantes equipos técnicos tanto de clasificación de uva como de vinificación.
Se realiza la maceración en frío en las primeras 24 / 48 horas no superando los 14º seguido del prensado posterior y desfangado estático natural. La fermentación se realiza con levaduras espontáneas a temperatura controlada en depósitos de acero inoxidable, tinos y barricas de roble francés.
